Microsoft Designs State-of-the-Art Artificial Intelligence App for GiGi’s Playhouse
Find out how GiGi’s Playhouse is using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help people with Down syndrome improve their own fitness goals and strengthen their muscles!
How can technology help kids with Down syndrome? That’s the question a team of Microsoft geniuses set out to answer during this summer’s Microsoft Hackathon. What they created while working with GiGi’s Playhouse is a solution that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help people with Down syndrome improve their own fitness goals and strengthen their muscles!
The team created a virtual AI coach to guide physical therapy-based sessions, making each workout more impactful and more fun. As the virtual coach guides participants through movements like squats and planks, the tool captures biometric data. This means it can provide instant analysis of the actual performance of each exercise and give direct feedback to the individual to ensure proper form and positive reinforcements.
Ultimately, this tool will give people the option of working out independently when they can’t attend PT- based fitness programs like GiGiFIT. Simultaneously, it’s creating a biometrics database that helps us better understand how to use technology to improve the lives and health of people with Down syndrome. Thank you, Microsoft, for creating this empowering new tool and thank you Clover Technologies for starting this life-changing partnership!
